The People’s Grocery Builds In Oakland, And Changes Lives

Ed at The Slow Cook (a fantastic site by the way) linked to this article at The Rodale Institute discussing a local group in Oakland that is focused on providing fresh fruits and vegetables to lower income families in the Oakland area. This is kick ass idea and I wanted to share it with our readers.

If you live in a city that doesn’t have this service perhaps you could start one up? Even if they don’t have one, maybe you could Plant a Row for your food bank.

My fiance and I started a container garden this year and hopefully we will produce some extras to donate to the food bank at our church.
