The Largest Wind Turbine Propeller We’ve Ever Seen Is 6MW Of Enormity

wind turbine

Remember that picture we had a few months back of a helicopter taking off of an enormous wind turbine? Yea, that 3.6MW behemoth today looks normal compared to this 6MW monster being installed in Germany. Apparently, it’s one of the two currently going up in the city of Hamburg. Huge — just huge.

I’d like to see if the Kennedy clan will allow one of these off Martha’s Vineyard, put it in Ted back yard.

Actually, we’ve got quite a few of these (on a smaller scale per turbine) dotting the landscape in Iowa – seems we’re #1 in corn production and if not already, soon to be #1 in wind energy. The only problem I see is building the transmission lines to get this power outta here to the consumers. Too much opposition already as to where, when, and how to set this up.

We are seeing a lot of proposals about pollution, global warming, fossil fuels, and alternative energy sources. I think they are all missing the point. The real problem is too many people on the planet using too much energy. The most basic law of physics is the law of conservation of energy. All energy, from whatever source, eventually becomes heat.

If you create electricity from hydroelectric plants, cleaner even than nuclear plants, making the electricity creates heat. Turning the turbines creates heat, running the generators creates heat. Transmitting the electricity through wires creates heat from the electrical resistance. Using the electricity creates heat. For that matter, building the dams, turbines, and generators all create heat and often other environmental pollutants.

It’s an unavoidable law of nature. All energy creation and use makes heat. Reduce the number of people on the planet by maybe 1/2 and most environmental problems are solved.

Wind energy? The bird kill problem would be solved by a different design for windmills. Vertical axis designs have been demonstrated that are more efficient, do not kill birds, and are cheaper to make. Even so, when you build them and their necessary generators and electronics, you create heat and other pollutants.

So the real problem is heat pollution, yes, there is accompanying problems of CO2 emissions, particulate pollution and all of the others. Each of those is possible to solve. But the heat pollution will remain and will continue to get worse until the world population is substantially reduced .

I fear a global conflict between the Islamic extremists and everyone else will solve a lot of this at the expense of reducing much of the planet to a nuclear wasteland. Iran has already admitted their nuclear program has been proceeding unabated while they were distracting the rest of the world with what they permitted us to see. Even if Iran never uses a nuclear weapon (which I don’t believe they can refrain from doing) they will supply other terror groups with what they so desperately want. Then what?

Germany taught the Americans rocketry, jet engines and a few other technologies, now this! Will America catch on this time or will Germany have to be inundated and the goddammit windmills be stolen technology for Yankee Doodle to appreciate and value them – Do you think the Yankee Doodle corn-cobs can learn once again from the European “Master Race”, just how it is done? Without massacre? Can they get off their high flying pride long enough to say “Please. How?” Better yet “Please, Why?” and believe the solemn answers they get? Act on the truths they are told? Do differently? Does Yankee Doodle see the “Energy Scarcity Wall” he is suicidally racing towards with a dollar speeding downward through the gates of Hell, soon to crash and burn there? Can he imagine paying for oil in Yuan, Yuan he buys with discounted dollars, now that the dollar is held in contempt world-wide? Is there hope for this creature, the spawn of 200 years of corporate force feeding, and now unsustainable, in this world? Pray vigilantly for the great fat-assed American – no bones bigger than his found in all human record – he is not long among us, lest he learns these lessons , and we will miss him very much, he is a great loving buffoon at worst!
