I’ve been saving up some interesting links for a while so it’s time for another exciting segment of Bobolink! Yeah!
I thought this was an innovative idea and a new way to approach providing people with clean drinking water. I would agree with the commenters though, the product is slightly wasteful and too expensive for the people who need it.

I’ve loved these alternative vehicles for quite a while. Given my love of biking this shouldn’t be a surprise to any of you. If you want to learn more just search for the term. Then you’ll be swimming with information. In other biking related news, bike manufacturers, and consumers, are finally getting more serious about bikes for utility purposes.
Given some of our past discussions here at Groovy Green about line drying your clothes the idea surrounding this article and the comments are quite funny. I’ve been involved in real estate quite a bit in my life, and a clothesline isn’t something that I would think would detract from a homes value. But then again, I’m probably not a good judge of that because I would want one.
Liz has a great piece on her site about participating completely in all aspects of the animals that she and her husband slaughter on their little homestead. When I was growing up we occasionally ate beef liver and onions. I know I would never get my wife to try it but even as a kid I didn’t mind it. It would certainly make sense to use up all the parts of the animal.
“Eating organ meats isn’t something I would do everyday, but to us it’s an important part of honoring the animals that are giving up their lives for us. We try to make the best use of as much of the chicken as we can: blood and feathers go in the compost pile; necks, hearts, gizzards and bones go in the stock pot; livers (and now testicles) are eaten for dinner; and the fat is saved and rendered down for sautéeing.”
I think this gentleman is a fantastic writer. You should really read this here and this here. I’m not even going to add any dialogue to what he says so you can read it and think about it to form your own thoughts.
One thing that I don’t think is discussed enough surrounding Peak Oil is our food supply. What are we going to do when you can’t transport food all over the world for America to gorge itself on? I have a plethora of links here related to this subject. Click here for some great Energy Bulletin stories related to food. (one is even close to me in Des Moines) There is also a quick discussion here about food with a link to a discussion about grain prices, with a bonus discussion about Natural Gas thrown in for free. (We like to give you some bang for your buck here at Groovy Green!)
Have I told you all that I enjoy riding my bike? Well these crafty little people would make bike riding a lot more fun. A pedal powered washing machine? Now that’s efficiency in action. You definately need to hop over to their site to see all the different ways they’ve thought of to use a bicycle and it’s parts.

Can you imagine how much energy would be saved in America if people had pedal powered washing machines? Or water pumps? And all the exercise we would get would make a big differance on our waistlines too.

Great post! I think the pedal powered clothes washer is great.
