If you’re looking to avoid a natural exit from this world, might we interest you in a recycled plastic vault? You see, currently many states have laws whereas traditional cemeteries must bury caskets inside of vaults. These are usually made out of copper or concrete and are a waste of resources and energy. A new company called Eonian Burial Vaults is offering recycled plastic vaults — with the ethylene used in the manufacturing of them a byproduct of natural gas. They are water and air tight — and come in at around $200-$1500 cheaper than their traditional counterparts.
But here’s the rub: For those that embrace vanity beyond the grave, your body isn’t going to be preserved. Under air-tight and water-tight conditions, it will simply decompose into a liquid mush. Personally, I’d rather just throw myself into the ground, have nature reclaim what’s left, and become part of a tree, weed, or grass above me. Who the hell wants to be mush of all of eternity?
If you answered, “I do!”, please consider buying a recycled plastic vault. For those that want to be trees, check out this list of natural cemeteries near you!
