Today is Arbor Day in the state of Washington and I have plans to plant a few trees in my yard. (Cherry, Plum, Apple and a Fig) So my thoughts are on planting trees today and I found that The Nature Conservancy has recently launched a new website, www.plantabillion.org.

The aim of this site is to raise money to help reforest 2.5 million acres of land in the Atlantic Forest. One dollar buys one tree, so far they have raised 176,080 dollars. Not only will this effort help to remove nearly 10 million pounds of carbon from the atmosphere annually, the goal is to help protect critical watersheds as well as create jobs.

It would be really wonderful if individuals, corporates, governments and institutions each did their bit for planting trees and doing their bit for the environment. That would really make the difference.
