The Green Picture: Amazing Recycled Drift Wood Horses

If you looked quick enough, you might be mistaken that this is a real horse. Instead, it’s a sculpture put together with pieces of recycled driftwood. The work is the result of artist Heather Jansch — who specializes in art created with driftwood and bronze. To see more of her work, jump here.

Is it just me or does anyone else think this is a bit creepy looking like a skinned horse?

Impressive! I just checked out the other art on her site and it equals and/or exceeds the quality that you showed here.

Heather Jansch has created another stunning horse “Atlantis” which is currently on display at the Love London Recycled Sculpture Show currently being hosted at ZSL London Zoo! 29 May – 5 Sept 2008.
The Recycled Sculpture Show features a fascinating display of over 20 animal sculptures created using reclaimed waste materials only and centered around a conservation and sustainability theme. This thought-provoking and inspiring recycled sculpture exhibition features talented artists from across the UK, Canada, Norway and Eastern Europe.
Heather will be creating a limited edition of bronzes cast from “Atlantis”! Please visit the show site at http://www.recycledsculptureshow.co.uk to pledge your interest in the bronzes and we shall contact you directly.

I love the fact you use re-cycled wood also the proportions on the horses are perfect

I wanted to submit a comment regarding your Poll “How long do you think it will be before an electric car is sitting in your driveway”. I wonder how many realise the inconsistency and unsustainability of electric cars… the greens are asking us to switch to (toxic mercury containing) light bulbs and instead plug in a WHOLE CAR! (hilarious!)

Where will the electricity come from for that? Are we going to give up Las Vegas so we can all have electric cars?

i think it may be photoshopped. If you take a closer look at its legs you can see where they used the blur tool between the driftwood sculpture and an actual horse’s legs. Overall though, a great concept
