Energy legislation

Comments

This year’s Energy Bill (HR 3221) will hit the U.S. House of Representatives floor today. This legislation currently includes a Renewable Electricity Standard of 15% by 2020! The House energy package will eliminate millions of tons of carbon dioxide, and the Udall-Platts Renewable Electricity Standard amendment can take us even further!

wind.gifHR 3221 includes tax incentives for wind energy production and plug-in hybrid purchases and restores sound stewardship to the management of our public lands. Equally important is the Udall-Platts Renewable Electricity Standard amendment that requires the U.S. to produce 15% of its electricity from renewable sources such as wind and solar power by 2020.

If you are interested in supporting renewable energy and increasing it’s use within America you should contact your representative today to let them know how you feel.

If you wish you can use this standard form from the Sierra Club. Or go to your representative’s personal site and send them a note letting them know how you feel.
