Nothing quite guarantees a date with the sun like a day at the beach. Reware, the company behind the popular solar backpack, The Juice Bag, has introduced a perfect accessory for your sandy destinations: The Solar Powered Beach Tote. From the release,
“Gentenaar explains that charging a cell phone or other device with the Juice Bag requires only sunlight; no batteries are needed. And if users dedicate their Juice Bag to charge their cell phone or PDA for an entire year, they’ll keep one pound of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. “It’s very elegant,” he says. “From the sun, to the Juice Bag, to your device. Nice and clean.”
The Juice Bags Tote uses American technology and craftsmanship, integrating a flexible “thin-film” solar panel into a bag made from heavy duty, natural canvas. The solar panel is a high-tech device made up of 52 micro-solar cells that produce energy using sunshine. The bag uses the company’s SolarSistem™, which allows the solar panel to be easily removed for use separately from the bag, or for cleaning of the bag.”
I’m still waiting for someone to come up with a solar-powered umbrella. For the time being, my energy demands at the beach (has this ever been an issue?) can be satiated with this product. You can pick one up here for the “sand in your face” price of $249.00.
Hey, convenience ain’t cheap.

How ’bout a solar powered cooler to keep our beer cold?
(Seriously, not meant sarcastically… I’ve been lusting after a Juicebag for ages.)

Juice Bags are awesome! I’ve had one for a while now, and my brother bought one of their messenger bags and he loves it! I just ordered my beach bag and I can’t wait!

further proof you gotta be rich to care about the environment…
(As long as you don’t pay any attention to the environmental impact of having that cell phone or PDA in the first place, starting with its manufacture, built-in obsolescence, and finally disposal of the parts, especially those batteries.)
