PLENTY Magazine Honors 20 Companies Pushing The Eco-Envelope

Comments

plenty.jpgGroovyGreen fav, PLENTY Magazine, honored 20 companies on the cutting edge of green technology and services at a carbon-neutral event last Thursday in downtown New York City. Everything from an actual Skystream Wind Turbine to Efficient Fiber Optic lighting to Solar-Powered Plastic (like ink, you just apply to clothing, textiles, etc.) was on-site and honored. From the press release,

PLENTY Magazine transformed New York’s popular haunt, the City Bakery, into a carbon neutral green hub as they honored 20 companies pushing the eco-envelope. Showcasing the latest innovations in green technology and businesses, the event brought together the Big Apple’s own eco-influencers who are playing their part to help push New York towards becoming one of the most environmental, sustainable cities in the country. Carbon emissions resulting from this event – energy and electricity usage – were offset by Green Mountain Energy Company.”

Apparently, over 300 people attended the event! Most notable were the digs in which the party happened — the City Bakery is a particularly green part of NYC and is also celebrating the upcoming opening of their LEED certified spaces in Manhattan! Very cool — beyond hosting, they also supplied some yummy organic hot chocolate (with proceeds benefiting the National Resource Defense Council).

Check out the PLENTY site for more. It’s fantastic to see such events honoring up and coming technologies. Let’s hope such recognition gets them the investment and resources they need to make it into the marketplace.
